About matted coats
Matted fur doesn’t allow air to reach the skin, which can cause hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections, and skin irritation. Fleas, ticks, and parasites can also hide deep in mats. Matting pulls and binds, causing your dog discomfort when they move or lie down.
Because of your dog’s coat condition, the only humane option is to shave the coat down close to the skin to fully remove the matting.
What to expect after the groom:the skin underneath may be red or irritated. We’ll use a medicated shampoo to help. Your dog may have small nicks because the groomer must work very close to the skin — our groomers take every precaution, but the risk exists.
